Computer Security Day 2012
The National Computer Board/CERT-MU hosted a cyber security conference and an exhibition to showcase the latest Computer Security products on the occasion of Computer Security Day on the 30th November 2012 at the Conference Hall, Cyber Tower 1, Ebčne. The conference targeted IT Professionals, System Administrators, Network & Database Administrators and IT Security Professionals. The aim of the conference was to bring together international and local IT Security Professionals to share their experiences, acquire knowledge and gain an understanding to safeguard their organisation’s most valuable asset-information. The cyber security conference was officially opened by the Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Hon. Tassarajen Pillay Chedumbrum.

IST-Africa Training Workshops
The National Computer Board in collaboration with IIMC Ireland, organised a 2-day workshop from 15th November to 16th November 2012 on European Union Framework Programme 7 and Living Labs, respectively. The objectives of the workshop were to create awareness on the Framework Programme FP7 and train the Mauritian ICT researchers in preparing ICT research proposals, stimulates the establishment of sustainable Living Labs that will support socio-economic impact by creating a collaborative, co-creation culture and environment in Mauritius. The Hon. Tassarajen Pillay Chedumbrum, Minister of Information and Communication Technology officially opened the workshop on the 15th November 2012.

The 1st edition of Infotech Rodrigues was held from Saturday 3 to Sunday 4 November 2012 at the Regional Cultural Leisure Centre, Mount Plaisir, Rodrigues.
Some 10,000 people visited the event.

IPv6 Training - from 29th October to 1st November 2012
The National Computer Board in collaboration with AFRINIC, the African Network Information Centre organised a 4-days training from 29th October to 1st November 2012 on IPv6. The objective of this training was to provide a hands-on exposure to IPv6 implementation including transition techniques and security issues. The training session was attended by IT Professionals, Network Administrators and IT Security Professionals from both public and private sectors. The Hon. Tassarajen Pillay Chedumbrum, Minister of Information and Communication Technology officially opened the training session on the 29th October 2012.

ICT Skills Development Programme
Government has approved the implementation of the ICT SKILLS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (ISDP) which promotes training and work placement initiatives to cater for the increasing demand of manpower in the ICT/BPO industry.
The ICT Skills Development Programme comprises two incentive schemes:
Scheme 1: Training and Work Placement Scheme
Scheme 2: Work-Based Learning for University

The 19th edition of Infotech was held from Thursday 13 to Sunday 16 September 2012 at the Swami Vivekananda International Convention Centre, Pailles.

Green ICT Workshop
The National Computer Board organised a workshop on Green ICT on 23rd July 2012 at the Conference Hall, Cyber Tower 1. The objective of the workshop was to raise awareness on the importance of Green ICT in businesses and provide the participants with the necessary knowledge to implement Green ICT in their organisation. The workshop was officially opened by Hon. Tassarajen Pillay Chedumbrum, Minister of Information and Communication Technology. Two guidelines were also launched on this occasion namely Guideline for setting up Paperless Office and Guideline on Server Consolidation and Virtualisation
