The Co-operatives Act 2005 prescribes that NICE shall be managed by a Council composed of a Chairperson and eight members. It also makes provision for a Director who shall be the Chief Executive of the Institute and be responsible to the Council for the management of the Institute.

NICE is called upon to play a very crucial and significant role in capacity-building and in the promotion of co-operative movement in the country. It inculcates the values and principles of co-operation, the concept of entrepreneurship together with the enhancement of skills in management.

In line with the philosophy and vision of the Ministry and in an endeavour to improve the image of the co-operative movement, the Institute has designed a series of innovative training programmes to give a fillip to the movement
