International Year for Astronomy (IYA 2009)
Registrations for the National Science Challenge 2009, Science Communication Contest 2009 and the Junior Science Adventure 2009

Registrations for the National Science Challenge 2009, Science Communication Contest 2009 and the Junior Science Adventure 2009 are open now. These three competitions are organised by the Rajiv Gandhi Science Centre (RGSC) with the goal to arouse the interest of the younger generation for science.

The National Science Challenge 2009 is intended for secondary school students of Form IV and Lower VI. Entry forms should reach the RGSC by 30 March 2009.

Secondary school students of Forms I to III are invited to participate in the Science Communication Contest 2009. The deadline for the submission of entries is 27 February 2009.

The Junior Science Adventure 2009 is a project-based competition aimed at primary school pupils of Standards IV and V. The theme chosen this year is “I care for my Health”. Duly filled entry forms should be sent to the RGSC by 06 March 2009.

Fifth edition of InnovEd in 2009
The National Productivity and Competitiveness Council (NPCC) is organising the fifth edition of InnovEd in 2009 with the collaboration of the Ministry of Education and Human Resources. The overall objective of InnovEd is to promote innovation and creativity among students. The deadline for schools to register their participation in InnovEd 2009 is 30 January 2009.
Maurice Ile Durable (MID) Week in March 2009
The “Maurice Ile Durable (MID)” Fund will organise an MID Week in March 2009 to popularise the various aspects of the MID concept. Activities scheduled for the MID Week include a colloquium on MID at Octave Wiehe Auditorium by the University of Mauritius, the launching of the logo and website of the MID Fund, an interactive exhibition and lectures on MID at the Rajiv Gandhi Science Centre, a workshop on the Grid Code by UNDP experts and national sensitisation on energy efficiency.
