Mr. Vishwamitra Oree, Curator/Manager at the Rajiv Gandhi Science Centre, was awarded the Fellowship in Museum Practice 2008 of the prestigious Smithsonian Institution in the United States. During the four months of his fellowship in Washington D.C., Mr. Oree investigated a variety of methods for developing museum/school collaborations that are beneficial to all stakeholders: museum educators, science teachers and students. Among the sites he studied are the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center, the National Science Resources Center, and the Naturalist Center of the Smithsonian Institution National Museum of Natural History. The main goal was to identify the features that characterize successful science museum/school partnerships and to gain an understanding of which practices best fit the context of developing countries.

18-20 May 2009, Mr. H. Ramsurrun, Resource Officer, Rajiv Gandhi Science Centre attended the Workshop on Nanotechnology – Present Status and Future Prospects in Developing Countries organized by the Centre for Science & Technology of the Non-Aligned and Other Developing Countries (NAM S&T Centre) from 18-20 May 2009 at Kashan, Iran jointly with the Iranian Research Organization for Science & Technology (IROST), Iranian Nanotechnology Initiative Council (INIC), Kashan and IOR-ARC Regional Centre for Science and Technology Transfer (RCSTT), Tehran .
