Section 66 of the Rodrigues Regional
Assembly Act 2001 provides that there shall be an Island Chief Executive
who shall be responsible for the efficient administration of all
functions of the Executive Council.
The Papers to be considered are scrutinized
by the Island Chief Executive. These papers comprise Memoranda and
Information Papers. A draft Agenda is submitted to the Chief Commissioner
who determines the contents of the agenda for each Executive Council
meeting.
Each Commissioner is provided with
a set of Papers according to the Agenda approved by the Chief Commissioner
for consideration at the next meeting of the Executive Council.
At the end of each meeting, the Island
Chief Executive issues a communiqué on some of the main deliberations
of the Executive Council.
Senior
Executive Officer
The Senior Executive Officer provides
assistance to the Island Chief Executive in the discharge of his
responsibilities.
She keeps records of decisions reached
by the Executive Council and makes arrangements for their transmission
to the relevant Commissions. She is responsible for the safe keeping
of the records of the Executive Council.
Secretariat
and Supporting Staff
The Executive Council is assisted by
a Secretariat. The main objective of the Secretariat is to assist
the Executive Council in discharging its duties. Its role is linked
to the weekly session of the Executive Council. It has to follow
a set pattern of works to be ready for the next meeting of the Executive
Council.
The Secretariat functions under the
supervision of the Island Chief Executive. It processes all documents
to be considered by the Executive Council. Executive Council documents
are prepared according to set guidelines and the final product to
be presented to Commissioners should be neat, clear and cogent.
